: : : Here is the news for September : : :

Thursday 30th September
I Showed off my cycling skills at a new baby group today - the other parents were very impressed with me, because apparently i'm not supposed to be able to ride a bike properly yet. Mum said it was because I have been watching Peter riding his bike.

I've somehow managed to get a big scratch on my face. I was invisible in a way because it got covered with mud. When Dad came home he thought I had tyre tracks on my face, but it was just a scratch which I was very brave about.

I was really pleased to see that we were going to pick peter up from nursery today, so pleased in fact that I clapped when I saw that we were getting nearer to the nursery.

Wednesday 29th September
I went to A baby group today without Peter - It looks like he'll be away every single morning for the forseeable future. Anyway - I had a really good time, I rode a little bike around and around in circles for ages and ages.

I've been very grumpy at night for the last week or so, my new tooth is really really sore and not even calpol can sooth my fevered brow these days.

Today was the day that we were in the guardian newspaper. They didn't say much about me, but my picture was there. I suppose that's good. Their reporting was wildly inaccurate though. THIS is the very first babyblog. Everyone knows that - AND it's written by babies, for babies. Dad is going to write a sternly worded letter to the guardian newspaper.

Tuesday 28th September
Peter went to nursery again today. It's a bit of a bind having to take him there every morning. I was hoping that I could be left to my own devices in the house while Mum took him, but oh nooo, I have to get dressed and go along as well. I susupect that Mum thinks that I would colour in the whole house while she was away.

I did get to ride Peter's bike round the patio though, so there are some plus points to having a grown up brother at nursery.

Monday 27th September
Today I got out on my trike as soon as I could, which wasn't too long after breakfast. Dad had them hidden in the back of the car after yesterdays park trip. He tried to smuggle them through the house and into the garden without Peter and I seeing him. He failed, and fairly soon after breakfast Peter and I were doing laps around the patio. Peter counted them all properly and I said "one two three two three two three". It's not that I can't count, I was trying to put peter off because he can count to 100 which is quite tedious.

Mum and I went for a walk along the canal on the way back to Peter's nursery - I will admit that I was very upset that we had to leave him there this morning. Anyway - it was a lovely walk along the canal and there was the treat of seeing Peter at the end of it. We'd really missed each other. He didn't sit on me very much for the whole rest of the day.

Sunday 26th September
We are all agreed that today was one of the best days ever. Mum and Dad took us to the other park with all our bikes. I rode the little trike around the park and Peter rode his bike. Peter goes really very much faster than me but he's really good and goes round and round in circles so that I can catch up.

After a while we hunted for conkers. It was quite windy and they were falling out of the trees all around us. I think we were quite lucky not to have one fall on our heads. Apart from Dad because one did fall on his head. It wasn't a very spikey one though so that was lucky.

We all had an icecream before we went home. I only got a bit on my fingers and my fingers only got a bit on Dad's jumper so that was alright.

Saturday 25th September
I went shopping with Dad today and the lady at the cheese counter thought I was very nice so she gave me a giant lump of cheese. I said thankyou properly and I think that made up for the fact that Dad asked for expensive cheese instead of the cheap cheddar I suspect she was about to give me. Dad also let me eat a red sweet.

Late at lunch time while Dad wasn't looking I reached over out of my highchair and stole his sandwich. I managed to lick all the butter off it before he noticed.

One of my troublesome teeth has poked through - it's down on the bottom left hand side right at the back.

Friday 24th September
We all went to the park today and I fell over about 20 times. I managed to climb up onto the swing and get myself swinging all by myself while Mum wasn't looking. Another time when Mum wasn't looking I climbed up onto the cross bar of peter's bike and balanced really carefully.

I did some really good painting today using lots and lots of colours. It was all very exciting. As usual I did a few wheels, just to keep my hand in. I also drew a little pencil sketch for Dad to take to work with him. He says that he's stuck it up on his wall.

Thursday 23nd September
Today was a evry special day because I used the facilities available to me in the front room. In other words I used the potty for the first time. The details are as follows. I had my nappy off because, as I may have mentioned, I have a very sore bottom. Anyway. I needed a wee so Mum suggested that I used the potty. It was great. I used it about 10 times.

Wednesday 22nd September
Today we went on the train to stratford to one of the best places in the world - it's the rag doll shop. I sat on the rag doll barge for ages and watched rosie and jim videos. I also had a few goes on the nu-nu. We had a lovely time seeing Uncle mark. He was very kind and let us play in his crocodile infested playground.

On the way home (the second time we went to the train) Mum gave me a tiny little packet of pens and some paper. Somehow I managed to draw not only on the paper, but also on Mums legs, my legs, my fingers, my face and the table on the train. Sorry about that.

Tuesday 21st September
I rode MY trike that I have inherited from Peter around and around the patio today. Soon I will be ready to take my trike to the other park where I will be able to ride round and round along side Peter.

There was a picnic disaster today because I didn't want to eat any of my sandwiches because I accidently saw some crisps. I din't get the crisps until I had eaten my sandwiches. Which I refused to do as a test to see whether I coould get any crisps. Which I didn't.

My bottom is still a bit sore - just to keep you up to date.

Monday 20th September
I've had a fairly rotten old day today. Firstly my teeth have conspired in force to make my bottom really sore. It was so sore that I had to walk home. I was really sad about that, but Peter helped a bit my pointing out lots of puddles for me to splash in. I didn't go and paddle in the ones that were in the road though. I got a bit distracted by the little square manhole covers. I peered very closely at one and over balanced and fell on my head. Now I have a red spot on my head as well as a sore bottom.

My new joke thing is to giggle behind my hands. Dad is taken in every time. He thinks it's very sweet. FOOOOOL!!!!

Sunday 19th September
We went to a farm today. I think I may have been free due to my smallness and the voucher that Dad had. I had a really good go at the big climbing frame but some of the holes in the rope netting were a little bit too big for me and my leg fell through several times. Still - I had a few good goes and manaegd to get up the whole bit of netting a few times. Dad took me down the bumpy slide too - he goes quite fast if he's sitting on his jumper.

We had a lovely ride on a tractor and Mum let me stand up so that I could look over the edge of the trailer. This gave me a really nice clear view of the huge tractor wheels. I am happy to report that the tractor went through all kinds of big puddles and really sticky mud. I also saw a pig or two.

I must have a little sign on me somewhere that says "squash me" because when I was on the trampoline everyone seemed to sit on me. It's not fair.

Saturday 18th September
Dad took us to the school up the road today while Mum was out swimming. There was some kind of sale of stuff on. We didn't buy much - in fact the only things that Dad bought were a couple of little cars to keep Peter and I quiet. It would have been cheaper and easier for him to stay at home. I think he enjoyed himself though.

Mum has given me a brand new notebook so that I can begin work on my difficult second novel. I began work straight away and managed to get 4 or 5 pages done straight away.

I had a massive tantrum in the evening. No one paid any attention to me.

Friday 17th September
Peter went to school today - I was a little bit jealous because I wasn't allowed to stay - Peter told me that I was too little to be there. I don't mind really as it looks like I'll be getting Mum all to myself in the mornings.

It was raining in the afternoon, so Mum cleared the living room floor right up and then went and dried the slide off and we had the slide in the lounge. it was great. Sadly the swing doesn't even fit.

Thursday 16th September
I've been a little bit grumpy and noisy today. There has been a lot of shouting around in the house.

I wrote a book today, it was in my very own special notepad. I wrote something nice on nearly every single page.

Wednesday 15th September
I've been doing some art today and now it's stuck to the fridge. It's a fabulously detailed work featuring many wheels and lines and dots in a dazzling array of colours. I even had a little go at writing my name. it looks a bit like a collection of lines but Dad knew what I meant because I drew a shape every time he said a letter of my name, and there are lots of them in my name.

I'm still a bit grumpy because of my teeth.

Tuesday 14th September
I've been a little bit noisy and a little bit grumpy today. As usual I'm blaming my teeth, and there is actually one on it's way through - it's at the top on the right. I will of course let you know when it pokes through.

I did several lovely big pictures for Dad today they all featured wheels and windmills. He was very pleased.

Monday 13th September
I sat with Jasmine today and made a really nice picture. We did lots of circles and dots and then stuck lots of bits and pieces on. There was already a fish drawn on the paper and I added the wheels. Jasmine added some feathers.

Later on we went to aplace where I rode around on the special green foot bike. It's one of those ones with four wheels and a little place to stand. If you wiggle your feet around enough you can make it go forwards and backwards. Forwards is ok because you can see where you're going. I don't generally look behind me though - it's too much trouble.

Sunday 12th September
We all went to a really big shop today where I was exceptionally well behaved. I sat very quietly (unlike some) in my shopping trolley and drew several masterpieces on my pad of paper with the many free pencils atmy disposal. Even when I ate then end off my pencil there was always one to replace it. Anyway. I was very good. (unlike some).

I missed my afternoon sit down with Dad today because he was busy upstairs with some kind of cupboard project. Eventually he finished and came down and gave me a hug, but by then it was nearly tea time. I was a bit too busy to give him my full attention by then.

Saturday 11th September
I fell off the slide today. Dad warned me not to jump up and down on the wet slippery slide steps but I wouldn't listen. He nearly caught me. Thankfully I landed in the damp earth which cushioned the blow slightly.

There's definately a tooth coming somewhere because I'm chewing everything.

Dad found the baby jigsaws today I gave a few of them a go. There are many many pieces, each with its own little handle.

Friday 10th September
I'm not feeling very well today, I think I may have a mixture of having a cold and having an extra tooth coming through somewhere in the back of my mouth. At least my chickenpox is disappearing.

I tried to entice Mum to give me an aeroplane ride today by pretending that I wanted her to sing wind the bobbin to me. It worked every time.

Thursday 9th September
I climbed up the net bit of the slide today and slid down the slide on my tummy. It was quite scary because my head stood a fair chance of going into the ground because of the extreme speed. Mum held my hands to help slow me down.

Dad tries a lot of things to try and stop me from putting my fingers up his nose. Today he tried squashing his lip up under his nostrils. It was difficult, but somehow I managed to worm my fingers into his nose, which made him sneeze. He doesn't like it very much.

Wednesday 8th September
I've got a sore bottom. It's really sore. Veeeeeeeeeeery sore.

We went back to the shoe shop today because we needed some more shoes for Peter, but this time without lights on. There was fun to be had though because they'd just taken a delivery of shoes which were all neatly stacked in a big tower. I DESTROYED it.

The second part of my bedtime routine is the singing. First Dad has to sing "wind the bobbin up" and then "twinkle". Then he has to sing the first line of "wind the bobbin up" and then the first line of "twinkle" at which point I put my hand out to be kissed. THEN he has to kiss my left foot and then my right foot. Then he has to sing "wind the bobbin up".

Tuesday 7th September
My bedtime routine with Dad has reached ever more complicated heights. Firstly while I'm drinking my milk I like to beep his nose. Dad's nose has three beeps. The first is a "beep" which occurs once with every push. The second is a "hee-aw" which happens with every squeeze of the nose between finger and thumb and the third is a "AWWWW" sound, which happen when the nose is pressed firmly with the palm. This happens when the milk is being drunk. I shall move on to part two of the going to bed routine tomorrow.

I went out finding conkers today with Mum and Peter. I found lots and lots and we went home with a giant bagfull. I'm like a beady eyed magpie for brown shiny objects.

Pox fading slowly slowly.

Monday 6th September
Peter was generous today but it was bit too confusing for me. If he'd had a go and then let me have one go, I think I would have been fine, but he kept letting me have lots of goes. This got me very confused, because then I thought I was supposed to have ALL the goes. This was mostly because I can't count. Taking turns is much easier to understand because I can count to 1.

My pox is even better today, some of my spots are fading and some aren't.

Sunday 5th September
Mum was doing a lot of painting today so Dad took us out to the shops and the park so that we wouldn't want to to help so much. We bought Mum a new paintbrush and some bee plates. Dad bought Me and Peter a gingerbread man. As usual I just licked mine so that it went soggy.

Later on in the afternoon Dad took me out on my own to see some fire engines. I was very interested in the wheels and all the water that was around. I wasn't too bothered with the actual fire engines. They were a bit too high up for me.

Saturday 4th September
I went to the shops with Dad today and managed to ask for a cake. Dad partially understood me because he bought me a gingerbread man instead. I sucked it all the way around the shop and got covered in gingerbread.

We went to the park in the afternoon and I spent a long time tidying up all the bits of bread that always seem to be left lying around. I threw them all in the pond. I tried climbing a tree but I din't like it very much.

My chicken pox is getting much better thank you for asking. It's fading a bit from my face, but staying quite a lot in my nappy area. I've been allowed to roam free today so that it can dry out a bit. I wasn't allowed to sit on the sofa though.

"i love you"

Friday 3rd September
This morning my lovely cousin Jenny came to visit us for the day and we went to the park on the boats that go round and round and round. Mum let me steer for a little bit but soon got sick of going round an enternal corner.

After I woke up from my nap i cried and cried. I told Mum that there had been a bee. There was a little dot on my foot but there is no puncture mark. There's a little spot though. No one is sure whether I banged a chicken pox or got stung by a bee (or a wasp). I did say bee a lot though.

My chicken pox is a little bit better today. some spots have gone off my face, but the ones in my "nappy area" are not gertting any better.

Thursday 2nd September
I've still got chicken pox and although it's a little bit better I'mstill having to be brave as now I have a normal goo based cold too. I'm getting a little bit fed up of all of this.

I've been enjoying have my two baths a day. Mum puts some bicarbonate of soda into it to help my pox. I quite like lying on my tummy and sliding up and down the bath. It's a bit like swimming.

Wednesday 1st September
I am still ill. I slept a little bit better though and it was lovely that Grandma was still here. I went down stairs to play with her as early as I was allowed to. That was about 6.45 so there was a nice early start for everyone. Dad says that my pox was looking better but I thnk he was being kind.

I did some lovely BIG painting today. Mum stuck together lots of bits of wallpaper together and put them out on the garden. She was also kind enough to kive us several trays of paint. I got a bit painty, but we made a really nice big picture.

I learnt to ride a trike today. We went to the park and I rode around the big flat bit, pushing the pedals and everything. My feet have grown that extra little bit so now they go round and around. Dad met us at the park and I was going to show him but I had just fallen over and bitten my lip so I didn't. Not only do I have the foul pox, but now I have a fat lip too.
